New Scoreboard System Released

At FiXi we are always pursuing ways to better improve our products and services to provide a greater experience for our customers. In recent times, our focus has been to provide a complete stadium solution. Today is the first step towards this initiative with the release of a new Electronic Scoreboard add-on for existing FiXi subscriptions – streamlining the entire competition management process.

The integrated scoreboard system has been produced by DataScore, a company specialising in such technology and trusted by sport centres in Australia and around the globe.

At the beginning of each day, the scoreboard system will retrieve all matches from your FiXi Calendar, so your umpires / referees can easily select their relevant match.

All results entered can then be synchronised back to FiXi at any time, saving you endless hours of manual data entry, increasing data accuracy and reducing paper consumption.


Real Time Results

The Scoreboard system by DataScore comprises of a scoreboard tablet, a remote Wi-Fi controller and an LED display so that results can be entered and displayed in real time, improving the overall experience for your players and spectators.

Player Statistics

Individual player statistics (for indoor cricket and soccer) can also be entered into the system allowing each player to access a detailed report of their individual performance in addition to their team report.

The reports that can be generated include:

Release Notes

Over the past twelve months we have been doing incremental updates to FiXi & the broader SportFix platform. We have been working hard to ensure FiXi remains the most intuitive competition management solutions on the market. This release includes:

Updates released

This week an update was released in FiXi that brings some long awaited functionality that has been requested frequently by our growing user base. The major notable updates in this release are custom scoresheets, team consolidation and edit fixture enhancements. We have also made some updates to the overall visuals of FiXi ensure its compatibility with the latest browsers – both desktop and mobile and keeping up with modern visual design trends. Of course there are also a whole bunch of bugs that have been squashed.

We appreciate all the feedback we receive and we encourage you to keep it coming by logging your suggestions in our uservoice portal – be sure to vote what is important to you.

Custom Scoresheets

Until now scoresheets have been defined by FiXi head quarters and custom scoresheets would need to be made upon request and may incurred an additional fee. We are now excited to release the ability for you to draft your own scoresheets using Microsoft Word and OpenXML. The scoresheets can be designed however you like and using dynamic fields FiXi can populate your match data and player information.

Team Consolidation

Do want keep your database clean and in its prime for marketing purposes, reporting accuracy or just because you’re a neat freak. Recently we released the ability to merge duplicate customers, well now you can merge teams too! Read how to start consolidating your teams.

Edit Fixture Updates

We get so many requests to enhance our fixturing functionality and even though we know FiXi offers the most robust and powerful scheduling algorithm we also know there is always room for improvement. So in this update you can now add additional matches to existing rounds. You can also specify the duration of the individual matches irrelevant of what the default value is that is stored in the division setting. Here are some helpful articles about the new changes:

Team Admins

You may have already noticed but you can now invite your teams to add and modify their existing teams details. From within the team management screen you will see a new tab labelled ‘Admins’. From within this tab you can add a new admin by simply providing a name and email address. This will send an invite out the recipient to click a link and either log into the SportFix team portal using existing login or create a new SportFix account.

Once logged on, the user will see a list of teams they are currently admins of.


After selecting a team to manage, the admin can see information about that team and allow them to add team members and alter existing players details. All changes will be tracked in the activity log visible within FiXi.


Centres are able to restrict certain functions for admins, centre wide, preventing them from making changes to their teams which a centre may feel goes against company policy. E.g. allow new players to be added. These options are on the Sportfix Settings page which can be accessed by navigating to: Settings -> System and then selecting the SportFix tab.

It is also worth noting that if a team registers online the user who created that team will automatically be made a ‘team admin’ once the team has been allocated.

Change Team Order – Fixture Integrity

When making a change to a fixture during a season you want to make sure that you don’t make teams play each other again the very next week of your new fixture.

Rather than changing the fixture manually and breaking the integrity of the fixture we recommend you edit the team order.


Our fixturing algorithm uses the berger system or round robin method to generate who will play who. So each team at the start of the season is given a number and each week team 1 will play against another team until there are no more teams to play and then it repeats. This ensures everyone plays everyone at least once (provided you allow enough rounds) and no team will play the same team again until they have played everyone.

When you add a new team into a competition the whole algorithm needs to change. Unfortunately it means that teams will play some teams more than once but you can at least try to avoid a team having to play the same team they played last week as this causes a great deal of frustration to your teams.

So to work around this FiXi allows you to change the assigned number against teams or what we call ‘Team Order’. You can then preview what FiXi will generate for the future rounds so you can manipulate the team order until you are happy.

Using this approach ensures that from this point forward teams will continue to play each other in the correct pattern keeping the competition fair. Of course you can still change the fixture manually after the new fixture has been created but changing the fixture manually to specify who is playing who can lead to upset customers if not done right.


Some Small updates

We have just released an update to FiXi & SportFix including some handy little features.

Custom Field For Online Registrations

Now you can ask any question you like to your members when they register online, for example, How did you hear about us? This is configured through the event edit screen in the online registrations section.

Minimum Age for Online Registrations

Now you can ensure all registrants meet the minimum age requirements, for example, you can specify that you must be less than 11 years on before 1/1/2014 to play in this competition. This is configured through the event edit screen in the online registrations section.

Missed Registrations

You can now see registrations that were not completed or submitted. This is to allow you to see who is starting filling out the registration form but not finished it off, giving you the opportunity to contact them to see if they are still interested in playing and finding out why they didn’t proceed with submission. To access this report go to Online Registrations within FiXi and click ‘Missed Registrations’ button.

Finals Matches In SportFix Apps

Finals matches are now displayed on both iOS & Android devices. There is nothing more you need to do here except ensure your fixtures are sync’d.

New Dashboard

A new update to FiXi was released today (13-Aug-2014) which includes a new dashboard amongst other things. This new dashboard simplifies what is going on at your venue and gives you a quick glimpse of what is important and what is happening for today.


The first thing you will immediately notice is that we have removed the two large charts. Don’t worry these are still available under the administration tab. We felt as though this isn’t something you are interested in seeing every time you log in and it’s more like a report you can analyse periodically. These reports took up loads of space so removing them gave us more canvas to show you more important data.

Without a doubt the biggest thing introduced within this update is the duplicate customer finder (if you haven’t read the post please do). With the release of this functionality we thought it was critical that you could see any newly identified potential duplicate customers – so we display a table of the top 5 and a badge at the top of total amount of duplicates.

We are still continuing to expand on the functionality available for online registrations using SportFix. If you are not already using online registrations we strongly urge you to check it out. When registrations start coming in it’s easy to forget about them and don’t action or communicate with your new customers. So front and centre you can now see how many online team registrations you are yet to allocate into a competition.

Still available is the matches that you have on for the day down the right side. No changes there.

Duplicate Customers


Today we are excited to introduce a new piece of functionality within FiXi of something that has been requested frequently by you, the users. It’s the ability to find duplicate customers and consolidate them and keep your database clean.

The adoption of online registrations using SportFix has been been fantastic but allowing customers to register themselves onlinne can cause duplications in your database. If you haven’t heard about online registrations you should defiantly take a look.

Our system constantly scans your customer records to identify potential duplicates. The system looks at names, email addresses and phone numbers etc and if it believes it might have found a match it flags it for your review. Note that customers are never automatically consolidated.

Customers that are potential duplicates are displayed in the customer duplicates list. After selecting a particular customer from the list potential duplicates will be lined up side by side allowing you to select the most correct field values from the different contacts to end up with one final merged contact.

It is possible that an identified duplicate is not actually a duplicate so you can easily tell the system that it’s not a duplicate customer and the system will remember so it never flags these two customers as a potential duplicate. Check the video below to see how it all works.

SportFix – what is it?



For a long time you have been requesting the ability to take registrations foSportFixr your competitions online, allowing you to collect your customers contact information and take an initial payment to confirm their entry. At FiXi we knew we needed to offer online registrations but we needed to make it as simple as possible with as little administration overheads as possible (just like FiXi) but we were unsure how we would tackle it. In addition to online registrations we also knew we had clients that didn’t have a website but still wanted their players to find their contact details and allow for their customers to find their competition match times and results (similar to embed option). Over the recent times we have also began to develop up a new brand called ‘SportFix’ which is currently our mobile apps for Apple & Android allowing you to communicate to your customers & players. Therefore we wanted to ensure any new communication tools with players was using a consistent brand.

The Big News

Well today I am happy to announce that we have released its first browser version of SportFix which allows FiXi clients to have their own profile on SportFix creating a unique friendly URL. Each centre can have their very own profile allowing them to show their centres details such as contact information, logo & Google map. Players will also be able view all fixtures, ladders & results that you sync to the web from here. In addition, your customers will be able to register online through SportFix – collecting team and player contact information along with a nominal registration fee. Fees collected will be deposited directly into your PayPal account provided (other payment options will be available soon). Here’s the good part, all the data collected will be directly available to you from your FiXi login so you can immediately allocate this new team into your competition and begin generating your fixtures. No more retyping out registration forms or copy pasting from another system and no more data entry errors! Its seamless, just create a new event, wait for the registrations to flood in and allocate them when you’re ready. If a registration has taken money you can also define how you want this payment allocated in FiXi i.e. Team Registration, Season Registration or First Round Payment.

Getting Started

To get started all you need to do is log into FiXi and go into settings, click the ‘SportFix’ tab and select enable for ‘List My Centre on’ option and save changes. This will then generate a profile URL for you, clicking on that will load up your profile. You can use this URL in marketing material or link to it from your existing website.

To enable online registrations go back into the settings area and click the SportFix tab and enable ‘Allow Online Registrations’. You will now be required to enter a valid PayPal email address (this is where registration payment funds will go) and save changes. Once you have enabled online registrations you will see a new option in the menu appear under the Competitions tab called ‘Online Registrations’. Within this area you can create new ‘Events’ specifying a title, registration open date, registration close date and registration fee. These ‘Events’ will then be displayed within your SportFix profile for customers to register into. What’s Next?

This is our first release of SportFix for the web browser but we have big plans for the brand and it will continue to grow over the coming months. Very soon customers will be able to find a local centre to play sport, more stats will be available for competitions such as player names & game stats (e.g. goals scored) and centres will be able to upload photos and provide more details about their centre and the services they offer.

Please note that we will continue to offer the current embed functionality for your own websites and recent updates SportFix have had no impact on its functionality.

The latest release of FiXi Competition Management includes some new features which we think you are going to love.

Streamlined Results Sync

Always forgetting to upload your results to the web after you enter the rounds results? Previously you had to enter results and then go into the manage competitions area, select your competition and update the results.

Now after you enter the results you will be prompted if you would like to publish these results. Its a simple time saver.


Allow fixture to start from any round

Previously all fixtures has to start at round 1. So why wouldn’t you start from round 1? Well the scenario is that you have one fixture that is currently in grading for rounds 1-5; at the end of that grading you decide you want to split the competition into two divisions, Division A & Division B. You decide to leave the Division A teams where they are but move off division B teams to a new competition. It would be right to start division B competition from round 1 again and hence why this limitation of forcing fixtures from round 1 has been implemented.

Customer Search

Customers are critical, this is especially true for competition management. Previously you had to know the customers name or you had to know what team and find a customer through the teams area. What if you wanting to search for customers who play a certain sport or in a particular division, well you couldn’t. This is why we have given the customer search area a face lift. But its not just cosmetic, you can now find customers by using sport, division & season filters and keyword as always.


Player Registration

We have added two new fields against customers that allow you to track if a customer is registered and when it expires. These dates are used through the system such as scoresheets to identify if a customer is registered.

Check In Sheets Report

You can now print check-in sheets for your nights competitions which prints out a list of players for each team playing in the specified competitions. This allows players to confirm their personal details, mark attendance and also identify any new players that might need to be registered.



Red & Yellow Cards (automatically suspend)

This update has introduced the ability to track red & yellow cards given out during a match to players. Its highly important to track these statistics as it could be deemed that players should be suspended if they received a certain amount of red or yellow cards.

FiXi not only allows you to track cards given but admins can specify parameters that will automatically suspend a player if they reach a certain amount of cards. For example, for division A you could say that after 1 red card a player should be suspended or after 4 yellow cards the player should be suspended. The parameters are defined for each division. Cards given out each round are tracked and accumulated throughout the season.


Bonus Points




This update provides the possibility to automatically allocate bonus points to teams based on how many goals they score for a match. This provides additional incentive for teams who may not win but still have the chance of gaining some points. An example is that for every 4 goals you score – you get a point. This is in addition to winning the match wich lets say would earn you 4 points. If a home and away team were to play and the scores were 10 to 4 – the home team would receive 4 points for a win plus an additional 2 points (1 additional point for each team they scored 4 goals). The away team would get 1 bonus point for every 4 goals scored. Point earned for this round would be 6 & 2.

The settings for bonus points can be configured through the division settings.
